Day 1 - Camino de Santiago

After arriving in Burgos the previous night, touring the cathedral (a UNESCO World Herritage Site), and a pleasant stroll along the river where we ate dinner we spent the evening at "El Meson del Cid", a quaint hotel directly overlooking the cathedral.

We set off after a filling breakfast, walking through Leon, past the outskirts of town, past the major freeways and into the first small border town Tardajos. All in all we walked 11kilometers. A slow start to help us get pur Camino legs!

We realized in the early morning that we have about 500k to go still!

In the evening we had our first big pilgrim meal. $13 got us a bottle of wine to share and a three course meal. We love it here so far! But, WHEW, we are tired!!!!
